Albers Ring
Part of collaboration with Emily King for Art Basel 2011
Designing several stencil typefaces in the late 1920s, Josef Albers’s aim was to create a modular typographic system that would be appropriate for the mechanised age. “Life today doesn’t take place at a steady pace,” he wrote, “We can no longer be classical.” Albers’s stencil fonts have been digitised by several different designers and remain in regular use.
